Micro Trains N Scale Northern Pacific / Merchants Despatch 51′ Rivet Side Mechanical Reefer RD# NPMX 151

Built in early 1956 by Pacific Car and Foundry, this Merchants Despatch mechanical reefer was lettered for Northern Pacific and featured electric heating as well, to prevent perishable fresh goods from freezing during cold weather. Northern Pacific was a Class 1 Railroad formed in 1864, and eventually acquired in 1970 by Burlington Northern Railroad through mergers, which went on to merge with Santa Fe becoming BNSF.
