The Digitrax DB220 Auto-Reversing DCC Boosteris a high-performance dual-output booster designed to expand power capacity and simplify wiring on Digitrax LocoNet® DCC layouts. The DB220 provides selectable 3 A, 5 A, or 8 A outputs on two independent booster channels — allowing up to 16 amps of combined power total — and includes built-in auto-reversing capability for reverse loops, wyes, and similar track arrangements without a separate auto-reverser module.
This flexibility makes the DB220 an excellent choice for complex layouts, large home railroads, and multi-operator environments where both power and reversing control are needed from a single booster unit.
The DB220 offers two independent output channels that can be set via dip switches for 3 amps, 5 amps, or 8 amps each. This allows you to tailor booster power to different sections of your layout based on operational needs. When configured for auto-reversing, the booster automatically manages polarity changes for reverse loop sections, eliminating the need for standalone reversing hardware.
The DB220 is a dedicated DCC booster — it does not generate command signals on its own and must be paired with a Digitrax command station (such as Zephyr Express, Evolution Express, or DCS240+). The command station handles all control logic and DCC communication, while the DB220 supplies robust power to one or more power districts or reversing sections.

Large layouts often benefit from being divided into separate power districts. A booster like the DB220 lets you isolate faults and prevent a single short from shutting down the entire railroad. Multiple booster units can also be used together to support even more locomotives and accessories.
No. The DB220 is a DCC booster only. It must be used with a Digitrax command station, which provides the DCC control signals.
You can configure each of the DB220’s two outputs for 3 A, 5 A, or 8 A using dip switches, allowing up to 16 amps of total booster capacity.
Auto-reversing allows the booster to automatically handle polarity changes when a train passes through a reverse loop or similar track arrangement, without needing a separate reversing module.
Yes. You can install multiple boosters to create separate power districts for reliable operation even on large layouts.
Yes. Booster operation is independent of throttle type, and both wired and wireless throttles benefit from increased track power.
