The Super Hornet is a redesigned version of the actual service Hornet, which will succeed it within a few years because the planned A-12 attack fighter has been cancelled for economical reasons. The Super Hornet is being designed with a whole series of new technologies by using new component materials and an improved aerodynamic shape. Thanks to partially hidden air intakes, certain stealth features against radar have been obtained.
