In the late 1960s, the Mikoyan Design Bureau developed the world’s first interceptor fighter with a Mach 3 speed, the MiG-25. At the same time, a high reconnaissance-bomber modification was designed, which was called the MiG-25RB.

These perfect reconnaissance planes served in the Soviet (later Russian) Air Force and were delivered to Irag and Syria. The MiG-25RB Iraqi Air Force was used for bomb attacks during the Iran-Iraq war of 1980–1988.
