The A6M Zero was a fighter plane that fought alongside the rise and fall of the Japanese Navy for five years, from the summer of 1940 until the end of the war. It had outstanding aerial combat performance, and other performance characteristics surpassed even those of land-based fighters of the time.
Since the Type 11 was used as a land-based fighter, it was not equipped with a landing hook or a Crusey return direction finder.
In order to be a carrier-based fighter, the Type 21 was equipped with equipment that was omitted from the Type 11, and the wingtips could be folded upwards by 500 mm.
The Model 32 was an improved model aimed at improving high altitude performance and lateral maneuverability. The engine was changed to the Sakae Model 21, and the folding parts at the wing tips were removed and the wing tips were formed into a square shape, changing the impression.
The Model 22 had an increased wingspan of 12m and additional 45-liter fuel tanks were added to the outer wings on both sides in an attempt to regain the trailing power that had been significantly reduced in the Model 32 .
