About the T-50 Golden Eagle
The KAI T-50 Golden Eagle is a family of South Korean supersonic advanced trainers and light combat aircraft developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) with Lockheed Martin. First flown in 2002, the T-50 serves as the ROKAF’s primary advanced jet trainer, preparing pilots for transition to frontline fighters like the F-15K and KF-16. The aircraft features a single General Electric F404 turbofan engine, giving it a top speed of Mach 1.5 and making it one of the few supersonic trainers in the world. The T-50 has also been exported to several countries and serves as the mount for South Korea’s aerobatic demonstration team, the Black Eagles.
