About the P-51B Mustang

The North American P-51B Mustang represented a revolutionary leap in fighter performance when it entered service in late 1943. By replacing the original Allison engine with the Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin V-1650, the P-51B gained exceptional high-altitude performance and speed.
