About the M60A1 RISE (P)

The M60A1 RISE (P) was an upgraded variant of the M60 Patton series main battle tank. The RISE program (Reliability Improvements for Selected Equipment) introduced significant mechanical and fire control improvements. The “P” designation indicated the Passive configuration, which featured passive night vision equipment instead of the earlier active infrared searchlight system. The M60A1 served with distinction in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army from the 1960s through the 1990s.
