The Panzer III Ausf.N was a specialized infantry support variant of Germany’s Panzer III medium tank, designed to provide close-range fire support with its short-barreled 75mm KwK 37 L/24 main gun—the same weapon used on early Panzer IV tanks. Developed in 1942, the Ausf.N was created by mounting the 75mm gun on the proven Panzer III chassis, replacing the long-barreled 50mm gun of earlier variants.
